The Queen’s Indian Defence is an ultramodern opening for Black in response to White’s 1.d4. In many cases it is combined with the Nimjo-Indian. A solid opening and a reliable option for players looking for a game without much risk. A good knowledge of piece formations and different plans offers Black chances to seize the initiative even in quiet positions.
The greatest grandmasters of our time use this opening quite often. Nevertheless, players of all levels can play the Queen’s Indian. Of course, this does not mean that it is necessary to have a basic understanding of the concepts of the position before using this opening. They concentrate on the move order 1.d4 Iz6 2.c4 e6 3.Iz3 b6.
