Description
The Cycladic culture is one of the oldest in Europe and flourished in the Aegean during the 3rd millennium BC. Their marble art was exceptional, creating figures of human form, giving them a striking resemblance to contemporary art. The King represents a strong male figure, while the image of the Queen is dedicated to the most important period in a woman’s life, pregnancy. The figure of the officer has indicative lines with the arms under the chest and the legs together. The Knight is a horse from the Trojan War, found in the relief decoration of a vase in Mykonos. The tower is a replica of the huge 2500 year old marble entrance, which is still the landmark of Naxos. Finally, the pawn is the head of the most famous marble statue of this period.
