Description

When a chess player chooses to start with 1.e4, he should be fully prepared to face the move 1…c5. Too many top GMs and do not choose to start with 1.e4 fearing the Sicilian defense.

But why is this opening so dangerous for White?  What the most players are afraid to face? The essential problem is that in all the main continuations of the Sicilian Defence the play created is quite sharp. There are countless strategic as well as tactical ideas. The resulting positions are so complex that often White risks as much as Black risks. White in most cases finds it difficult to simplify the position with many exchanges.

Another element is that in almost all variations of the Sicilian Defence a huge amount of theory has accumulated. All of the above results in the white player being at a disadvantage many times, not knowing which line of the Sicilian Defence he will face.

The author Alexei Kornev with all this in mind decided to write this book. He decided to choose systems that do not require unprecedented memory from the white player, but are based on a sound positional basis. Positions without a huge amount of theory but at the same time rich in strategic and tactical ideas.

The Rossolimo attack and the Moscow variation are discussed in the first and second parts of this book. The first section is broken down into eleven and the second into seven categories covering virtually any possible Black response!

In the third part of the book, many second moves for Black are analyzed, except 2…Νc6 and 2…d6( have been analyzed in the previous parts) A quite dangerous move for White is analyzed, 2…e6. The author suggests as an opening weapon the quite modern move 3.g3. Besides, Magnus Carlsen has chosen this variation on several occasions!

If you are tired of endless lines of theory and want something reliable then this is the book you need!
